Vince McMahon changed the pro-wrestling industry when he brought celebrities from other fields into WWE. We saw the first major celebrity appearances at WrestleMania 1 in the year 1985 when Mr. T and Cyndi Lauper appeared.
Over the years, Vince has been successful in bringing many other celebrities into the company. While most of them have come in for one appearance, others have even taken bumps or wrestled against established superstars in elongated feuds.
This has resulted in WWE acquiring a fan base outside the pro-wrestling sphere.
As celebrities have appeared, fans have been eager to see them as playable characters in WWE games. Their wishes seem to have come to life as an American rapper has been added to WWE 2K22.
Popular American rapper Machine Gun Kelly took to Twitter and said, “i’ll be a playable character in the new @WWEgames so now you can slam me through a table as much as you want”
Machine Gun Kelly has appeared in WWE multiple times. In one appearance, Kevin Owens slammed him on a table. He used that small feud with Owens to announce his 2K22 debut.
With this announcement, it is sure that WWE and Vince McMahon are keeping close relations with the celebrities.
Why does Vince McMahon bring celebrities to WWE?
In the past few years, many celebrities from other fields have appeared in WWE. Big names like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mike Tyson, Johnny Knoxville, Shaquille O’Neal, Bad Bunny, etc have appeared in WWE.
Vince McMahon gets celebrities to WWE so that more fans can tune in to his product.
Last year Bad Bunny gave a fantastic performance at WrestleMania 37 and also appeared as a participant in this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble match. Bunny wasn’t the first celebrity to have a match at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’, but his performance was one of the most impressive ones.
This year Logan Paul will make his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 38 alongside The Miz to face Rey and Dominik Mysterio in a tag-team match. Fans will be excited to see how Logan Paul performs after Bad Bunny set such a high bar.
