Roman Reigns has proved that he is the best heel character in all of WWE. His return to WWE at SummerSlam 2020 was the point when he made a statement that in the ring he wasn’t the good guy anymore.
In the recent Peacock series EVIL, episode 8 is dedicated to Roman Reigns, where he shared his opinion about the character. We also saw several other legends praising him for his work as The Tribal Chief.
Roman directly spoke to the point and revealed why his character is already great in WWE. He referred to Jake The Snake Roberts, Hulk Hogan, and The Undertaker as how they won’t work in today’s time. He explained why The Tribal Chief is different from all the previous heels.
Roman said, “At this point, there is no smoke and mirrors with me. I don’t costume myself, I’m not running around with a snake. Great respect to him, but Hulk Hogan doesn’t work in 2022. Even with The Undertaker, it’s not the same as it was back in the early ’90s.”
Reigns’ heel persona connects with the fans in the current era and they love it. That is the reason he stated Hogan and The Undertaker won’t work in the current era as the times have changed.
The prime point for Roman Reigns came at WrestleMania 38 when he won the match against Brock Lesnar and unified the WWE and Universal Titles.
Paul Heyman praises Roman Reigns
In the opening segment of the episode, we can also see Paul Heyman praising Roman Reigns for playing the character. Heyman said, “He is the most ruthless, the most violent. A desired to be the best who has ever done this”.
When The Tribal Chief returned in August 2020, he quickly cemented his eyes over the Universal Championship and aligned himself with Paul Heyman.
Paul Heyman is the Special Counsel to Roman Reigns. Roman’s alignment with Heyman has made him a great WWE Superstar. Moreover, Heyman played a key role in setting up Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble to lose the WWE Title against Bobby Lashley.
Roman is not playing a character
Roman Reigns debuted in WWE as a member of the stable Shield. The team was initially debuted as a heel who used to attack all the superstars after their match. The shades of a heel character were spotted in Roman back then in his Shield days.
Roman in the episode, stated that everything he has done in WWE till now is to make his current run hundred percent authentic. The Tribal Chief also claimed, “I’m not playing the character, I’m the character”
Roman is a natural heel character and everybody knew that. Since the day he became The Tribal Chief, he has reached new heights in WWE.
