The very early betting odds for a potential dream match between Roman Reigns and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson are up.
For several years now, there has been speculation that Reigns and The Rock will one day clash on The Grandest Stage of Them All. WrestleMania 39 has been suggested as a potential time and place for it, since the event will be held in the giant Los Angeles market. It makes perfect sense because The Rock is one of the top stars in Hollywood, after all.
WrestleMania 39 will take place on the Apr. 1-2 weekend at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Even if WWE hopes to run the dream match, it may not fully come together for several months. Such is life when The Rock is among the most sought-after actors for major projects.
BetOnline has posted the very early betting odds for a potential Reigns-Rock WrestleMania 39 match. The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is a slight favorite at -175, while The People’s Champion comes in as a +135 underdog.
Back in August 2019, The Rock announced his retirement from professional wrestling. However, the wrestler-turned-actor proceeded to admit that he’d be interested in facing his cousin in a dream match.
Reigns hasn’t been pinned in over 900 days, and he’s the longest-reigning Universal Champion in history. WWE has been pushing the heel villain of Reigns through the roof, as he’s already defeated top stars like Edge, John Cena, Goldberg, Daniel Bryan and Brock Lesnar in title matches. A showdown with one of the all-time greats in The Rock at WrestleMania would certainly go a long way in enhancing the historic push.
The Rock’s Last WWE Match
The Rock’s most recent WWE match took place at WrestleMania 31 six years ago. The Rock soundly defeated Wyatt Family member Erick Rowan in just six seconds via pinfall. The Wyatt Family then surrounded The Rock around the ring, but Cena (recovering from a shoulder injury), returned and helped his former WWE rival fight them off.
