Matches that carry such high stakes usually carry jaw-dropping and thrilling finishes. But the “Winner Takes All” unified title bout ending suddenly, when Reigns hit Lesnar with his Spear finisher to pick up the pinfall victory. Surely, the majority of viewers were expecting Lesnar to kick out at that point.

Well, there may be an explanation for the anticlimactic ending. Fans heard Reigns tell Special Counsel Paul Heyman that something “is out” during the bout. As pointed out by WrestlingNews.co, the photos below suggest that Reigns may have been legitimately injured during the match. As such, this could have forced the two superstars to rush the match finish.

There is no confirmation at this time if Reigns is legitimately injured or not, but this is something to keep an eye on. We’ll share any more updates and information as they come.

Sunday marked the sixth WrestleMania main event of Reigns’ career. He and Lesnar also headlined WrestleMania 31 (Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract that night to become the new champion) and WrestleMania 34. With the victory, Reigns is now 3-2 all-time against Lesnar head-to-head.

Reigns’ win over Lesnar keeps the longest Universal Championship reign in history (581 days and counting) intact. Furthermore, he still has yet to take a clean loss in a singles match since the TLC 2019 pay-per-view.

What’s Next For Roman Reigns?

Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns is being advertised for multiple post-WrestleMania WWE events. With a shortage of main event babyfaces over on SmackDown, McIntyre certainly looks like one of the few good options to challenge Reigns next. The two headlined Survivor Series 2020 in a champion vs. champion match, where Reigns emerged victorious.
