The reigning WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar successfully retained his championship at WWE’s MSG show. However, what happened after the match really surprised the WWE Universe, and Lesnar too.
After winning the WWE Championship at the Elimination Chamber premium live event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Lesnar was supposed to defend his title against Bobby Lashley. However, Lashley is out of action because of the shoulder injury he suffered at Royal Rumble.
Eventually, the young Austin Theory came out to be the new challenger for Lesnar’s WWE Championship at the Garden. As expected, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ squashed the young Raw superstar and was seen smiling after his quick win.
However, things drastically changed for the reigning WWE Champion. After the match, Roman Reigns along with The Usos attacked ‘The Beast’ out of nowhere. Eventually, given that Brock Lesnar is a freak of nature, he managed to stall the three superstars by delivering back-to-back suplexes to Reigns and his kin.
However, the numbers game finally caught up to Lesnar. A distraction from Paul Heyman led to another massive assault. ‘The Head of the Table’ delivered multiple chair shots on Lesnar, especially to his cranium.
Finally, Roman used the steel steps on Lesnar’s face. By this time, ‘The Beast‘ was bleeding from his head and the crowd was in utter shock. However, Roman was still not done with Lesnar.
The longest reigning Universal Champion then delivered a rock bottom to Lesnar on the steel steps, a nod to The Rock‘s finisher. After this move, Reigns stood tall over Lesnar’s body with the WWE and Universal Championships in his hands.
Paul Heyman then grabbed a microphone and put it near Reigns’ mouth. The Tribal Chief then told Lesnar to acknowledge him.
What could be the end of Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania?
WWE is leaving no stones unturned in advertising the match between Reigns and Lesnar as one of the biggest main events of all time. Perhaps it is because it will be a title vs. title match at the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’.
However, WWE has to be very careful with their booking here. Both Lesnar and Reigns are too big to hand them a loss at WrestleMania. However, with Lesnar’s contract, his time may have been up with WWE for the time being.
Maybe an interference or a disqualification can end the match without making either of the superstars look weak. However, this decision will not sit well with the WWE Universe who is expecting to see one definite winner.
